As I am starting to recap my recent trip to New York for New York Fashion week, I still can’t quite believe I had the opportunity to go just months after starting my blog/Instagram!

New York Fashion Week Day 1

Along with the shows we decided to make a fun trip out of it as well, and it was so nice that my husband, Titus, got to come along with me. From navigating public transportation to keeping us on time and taking my photos, he was truly invaluable and I don’t know what I would have done without him!

It ended up being a very full couple of days. Extremely tiring (my feet got two blisters on just the first day), and freezing (more on that later), but very well worth it!

Though day 1 did start off as a nightmare.

First, I couldn’t sleep very well, so I was up at 12:48 am and started to get ready at 2:30 am. Ugh…so early! We left our house at 3 am and about 25 minutes out we drove over something and got a big hole in our tire. Luckily enough our newish car shows you when you are losing tire pressure otherwise we probably wouldn’t have known. As we parked and got out we could hear the air hissing and tried to think about how we were going to make it work…

Titus got out and called a friend while he replaced the tire with a donut and I sat staring at the clock thinking “we’re going to miss our flight.” Thankfully we have friends that will switch cars with us at 3:30 in the morning and *spoiler alert* we didn’t miss our flight 😉 Though we cut it pretty close!

The first thing we did after getting into the city was check into our hotel and unpack. I was pleasantly surprised with our hotel! It was pretty nice and we didn’t pay an arm and a leg for it. We were also in Times Square, which was a plus to me because we were close to things.

All that we had scheduled that day was a launch party and Nets game, so after getting settled in we spent the day sightseeing.

We went to Chelsea’s Market which is basically just a huge indoor market with shops and restaurants. It has a really cool look and atmosphere! Here we got Thai food and looked around.

Barneys was in the neighborhood and I wanted to check it out because I saw gorgeous photos of the place online. It didn’t disappoint. Definitely a blogger’s dream because it was all marble everything! I got some cool shots that I wanted and saw a celebrity (Miss J from ANTM), but we didn’t stay long. Something about the staff looking at you like you so obviously don’t belong there is kind of a turnoff 😉

I didn’t take as many professional photos as I would have liked, but sometimes it’s nice to put the big camera away and just have your phone handy. But I posted a cool one of this staircase on my Instagram if you haven’t seen it yet!

It was nice enough to just sit outside and people watch in Times Square for a bit.

We got ready then headed off to the Brooklyn NYFW Launch Party at Barclays Center in the Billboard Lounge put on by BeCrowned. Thanks for having me!

The night ended with my first NBA game. I’m not totally into sports but it was pretty exciting, even if the Nets did lose.
