Weekends always fill up fast with activities, but for some reason, it seems like life gets even more hectic when this time of year rolls around! School starts again, football season is in full swing, a fall wedding or two fill the calendar, and free days are filled with enjoying the beautiful weather. Amongst all the craziness of the autumn season, it can seem like we’re always rushing from one activity to the next – including church. Picking out fall church outfits may be the last thing on your mind amongst the busyness.
No matter what type of church services you may attend, and the fact that in most cases there is no “church dress code”, I think it’s pretty universal that we want to be looking nice and dressed in a modest, classy outfit! If you have a few minutes the night before, try to intentionally set out what you’re going to wear. This way you’re not sneaking in while the bells are ringing or the band is starting. It’s the best way to keep your stress down and your day running smoothly. To help give you some idea of what to wear, I’ve created a list of 10 fall church outfits perfect for cooler weather.

A silk midi skirt is a great option for any service, whether it’s Sunday Mass or a regular Sunday service, due to its modest length and the fabric – silk is a perfect choice if you want a more elevated fabric. A pleated skirt would also look dressy yet be comfortable. To keep the overall look of the outfit elevated yet modest, pair it with a turtleneck for a classic look.
As for your accessories, a pair of Mary Jane shoes and pearl drop earrings bring a timeless, almost vintage element to the outfit. For fall, a suede shoulder bag in a deep, rich shade will be the perfect finishing touch and a way to add in different colors.

A little black dress is a wardrobe staple for a reason, and there’s no reason why you can’t wear it on Sunday morning, too. A great way to style this look for church is to start with the right base – make sure your dress has a knee-length, midi or maxi skirt, and if you would like to make it even more modest, choose one with long sleeves, or at least some sort of sleeve that will give you a bit more coverage.
Then, dress it up with a pair of gold earrings and a pearl bracelet – two very classic stones and metal choices. Finish off the stylish look with a pair of leather boots – bonus points if they have a square or pointed toe, which offers a more current take on the rounded toe. However, if you prefer the rounded toe, those will look just fine as well!

If you’d like to elevate your favorite pair of wide-legged or skinny jeans for Sunday church services, a solid or striped sweater is a great option for a simple, yet classic look. Styling this look with more elegant accessories will make sure that you don’t look too casual for Sunday morning. Black jeans are also a great idea if you want to play with different types of denim, or a pair of khaki pants would work too.
Try mixing patterns with a leopard print pair of trendy Mary Jane’s. Pull the brown back in with a leather tote, and add a gold watch (I love the braided detail on this one!) for an elevated outfit.

Speaking of a striped sweater, another great option to elevate this classic wardrobe staple is to switch out the pants that you normally pair with it – like these corduroy wide-legged trousers. This color is perfect for fall, and the different texture is a great point of interest.
Mule slides with a heel are a perfect choice if the cooler weather hasn’t quite hit yet. Gold hoops are the final thing you’ll need to complete the look. Once it does get a little cooler, a trench coat would look great for a final addition.

Plus, this layer is a great option for cooler weather. Depending on just how cool it is, you could choose to add a sleeveless or full-sleeved turtleneck to the look.
Leather loafers, a sleek handbag, and a denim midi skirt complete the perfect fall look for church. If the denim maxi skirt is not your cup of tea, a knee-length or slightly shorter denim skirt could work if you add tights. You could also choose a pair of black trousers if you would like an even more dressed-up look, depending on how comfortable you feel.

This pair of checked trousers is the perfect statement piece for your fall church outfits. A high waist is always a flattering fit for almost every body type, plus this print and color are perfect for fall.
Keep the top of your outfit simpler with a black turtleneck. Once again, depending on what the weather is like where you live, you could do the full sleeve or sleeveless option of this piece. For shoes, a ballet flat in leather is a sleek version of the classic and comfortable footwear, especially if you are standing a lot during your service. Finish the look with a pair of gold bow earrings – they’re a subtle yet fun detail to express some playfulness in the outfit.
