Birkenstocks might be one of the most comfortable sandals, but they are not known for being the most fashionable shoes. In fact, a lot of people would think Birkenstocks can’t be used to create a stylish and classic look. I haven’t decided if I actually like them or not yet, but either way, Birkenstocks are trending and people are requesting cute outfits with Birkenstocks! Whether you have a casual, natural style like Gwyneth Paltrow or have mastered street style like Tracee Ellis Ross, both of these women have proven that it’s possible to make them work for your own personal style. If you need some ideas to get you started, here are 8 cute Birkenstock outfits to copy.
1. denim shorts + white button-down + Birkenstocks + pendant necklace

Are you feeling uninspired by your closet? Consider this casual look. Dress down your office button-down shirt by pairing it with denim shorts. This is the easiest way of creating a cool summer look! Plus, the distressed details on the shorts will give your button-down a laid-back and edgy vibe.
Wearing sneakers or running shoes with this outfit would be a good idea, but try something different. Slide on a pair of Birkenstocks instead! The white Birkenstocks will coordinate with your white button-down shirt and add that warm weather touch. A coin pendant necklace is a great casual piece to complete your look.
2. dress + straw bag + Birkenstocks + earrings

I’m sure on a typical spring or summer day, pairing a flowy dress with ballet flats or espadrille heels would be your go-to choice. I totally get you! It’s one of my favorite ways of looking effortlessly cute too.
However, if you want to shake things up, it’s time to switch your pair of shoes. Try wearing chunky Birkenstock sandals with a timeless halterneck dress. It’s a great way of giving a dress a cute laid-back vibe while keeping it comfortable. Pair your flowy dress with a straw bag for a stylish, summery look.
3. oversized cardigan + leggings + bralette + baseball hat + Birkenstock Boston clogs

Upgrade your everyday style by trying this outfit idea! Outfit combinations like this will easily be your new go-to look when running errands or for the times when you just know your day will involve lots of walking.
Start your outfit off with leggings and a matching bralette. This is the start of an effortlessly cool and relaxed outfit. Next, layer a cardigan over your loungewear for extra coverage and interest. Complete your everyday look with Birkenstock Boston clogs, black sunglasses, and a stylish tote bag.
4. wide-leg dress pants + t-shirt + oversized blazer + Birkenstocks + tote bag

I know pairing Birkenstocks with a blazer and dress pants may be the last combination you think of, but it can definitely work! Pairing these pieces together gives a casual chic look.
Recreate this unique office look by layering an oversized blazer over a basic white tee or striped t-shirt. Team up your t-shirt with wide-leg dress pants and slip on your new sandals. Accessorize your cool “office” look with an everyday straw tote bag for a warm-weather finish.
5. straight-leg jeans + white button-down shirt + black blazer + baseball cap + tote bag

A white button-down is perfect for creating a business chic look. But if you want your smart casual outfits to look even more casual, replace your black dress pants with relaxed jeans. Then, add a slightly oversized blazer for a relaxed vibe.
Finish off your look with Birkenstocks, of course, and add a stylish tote bag. You can also accessorize the tote bag with a cool baseball cap for an off-duty look.
6. rib knit pants + rib knit cardigan + Birkenstock Boston clogs

What better way to lounge around the house than in classic loungewear? A stylish loungewear set is a wardrobe must-have because you can wear it all year round. The obvious shoes to pair with a loungewear set would be house slippers – but why not try something new?
Birkenstock Boston clogs are a great alternative to your usual house slippers. The clogs are equal parts comfortable and stylish. Reviewers love this cult-favorite slip-on style for its cork footbed and cozy shearling. Lastly, pair the clogs with your favorite pair of socks if you need extra warmth. This could be a great airport outfit too!

8. floral dress + crossbody bag + Boston clogs + denim jacket
When spring flowers start blooming, it’s only right to rock a floral dress. I mean, it’d be a shame not to. So get dressed up in a pretty floral dress and accessorize with a crossbody bag!
If you’re not in the mood to wear wedges with your floral dress, Arizona sandals would be a perfect alternative. This style of shoe will give you the comfort you need so you can enjoy picnics and other fun spring activities.
Birkenstocks are the last pair of shoes most people would consider stylish. They may seem impossible to use to create a cute outfit, but these outfit ideas show that it may just be possible.

They’re a YES for me! I’ve been wearing Birks since the 90’s and I think when styled, they’re chic! I love the Big Buckle styles that update the Arizona. I always go for the classic styles and always leather vs synthetic material. I love the masculine chunky aesthetic of Arizona than the more “ girly” styles. To me, it’s what makes them cool and fashion-forward. Birks are comfortable, versatile, staples in my wardrobe and I consider myself a minimalist who leans toward traditional/ classic with a fun twist ( J Crew, Galvan London, Alice and Olivia and Frame are a few of my favorite brands)
Love every outfit except the shoes! Sorry not my taste!
I just can’t bring myself to wear them. I think the outfits you put together are indeed cute, but I’d wear them with different footwear. However, I do think Birkenstocks look fine on others – it’s not like I’m offended by them, they just don’t fit my personal style.
I love your blog. I’m 70-something and have always loved fashion. Always will. I’ve seen a lot of trends come and go and come around again, usually reappearing in a new or different way. Case in point is wide-leg or flared pants. We wore them in the ’70s with chunky heels, boots and platforms, long enough to kiss the floor (or the parking lot or the mud). This time around, the length is shorter, and the Birks, having outgrown their crunchy college-days image, provide the weigh and lift to balance the style. It;s new and fresh. And comfortable. I’m loving it.
Yes! Agreed
I love all of them ty.
In my heart, I know they are ugly. But I do have a pair I wear a lot in the summer. Heaven for my knees!
In my heart I wish I liked them.. I know they are the “in” thing but I think they look sloppy on most everyone who wears them.
They are a definite YES for me. I have worn them since the early 90’s. They are my go to’s. I don’t see that changing.
I’ve tried so hard to live them but as a half size they never fit right and for me personally they always look too masculine and clunky. Cute outfits though!
I have worn Birkenstock for years. I love Gizeh and Mayari Birkenstocks. These two are much prettier. The Arizona and clogs really don’t suit me. I loved the outfits you put together.
It has been sort of an evolution… 20 years ago I thought they were for only hairy arm pitted hippie type people… And then, lately, I have been reconsidering them, ordered a few pairs, and, like the comment above, the sizing doesn’t work for me… even the knock offs don’t work for me size wise… So instead of me, passing on the trend… It appears the trend passes on me… Thank goodness there’s so many cute things out right now!
My orthopedic doctor told me he keeps his sandals right by his bed to use as slippers and recommend them to me as I have some foot issues. I believed him and have a couple of pair. One was a whole lot less “clunky” than the other, so you just have to look.
They are very comfortable and allow me to enjoy my day without noticing I’m even wearing shoes. I have seen them worn beautifully by influencers of all ages from Naomi Davis to Linda V Wright. I have an indoor only pair that I wear around the house, as well as outdoor pairs. Btw, don’t get suckered into buying nice looking metallic leather ones- they fade within months. The two strap Arizona is now a classic, and some of the other thinner strapped birks can look great with dresses. Thumbs up over here!
I’m on the fence about these shoes. I think the outfit ideas are cute, but I don’t think the shoes would work for me. I have never tried on a pair of Birkenstock sandals, they remind me of the beloved wooden soled Dr Scholl’s sandals that looked fabulous on everyone, except me when I tried them. I think I will pass on the Birkenstocks
Outfits 6 & 8 are the only two I’d wear… I just think they look sloppy otherwise. Cute flip flops or slides look so much better, and are just as comfortable. Sorry, not a fan!
OMG!!
Thank you for the outfit ideas.
I’d like to see more.
I’m retired now, but have had a boutique and was a clothing rep. Guess you could say fashion is my passion.
I’ve always had at least one pair of these wonderful shoes and I’m glad to see them coming to the front again.
They are the best for your feet, but just a reminder for newbies……. Be sure to wear them around the house for just a little while at a time to break them in before going out all day
Thank you again for the great looks.
It was a good check for me so that I know I’m getting it right.
Got to keep up, you know.
